What happened

On September 30 California enacted SB 947, SB 951, AB 1331, AB 1883 and other bills. They require human review of automated discipline and firing decisions, notice when layoffs are caused by an AI system, limits on workplace surveillance, and stronger AI content transparency.

What it means for your business

If you have staff or customers in California, keep a person in charge of any HR decision an AI tool touches. It is a good practice in Texas too.
