Claude Voice Mode Upgrades to More Capable Models, Adds Gmail, Slack, and Canva

The short answer

Anthropic has moved its more capable Claude models into voice mode and extended the feature into business apps where many small teams already work. If your team already works in Gmail, Slack, or Canva, you may soon be able to issue voice commands directly inside those apps rather than switching to a separate tool and typing out prompts.

What happened

Anthropic has upgraded its Claude voice mode to run on its Opus and Sonnet models — its higher-capability tiers — after previously limiting voice interactions to the faster but less powerful Haiku model. The Verge reports that the upgrade enables more complex voice requests, with examples including rescheduling meetings and drafting emails through voice input alone.

Alongside the model upgrade, Anthropic is integrating Claude voice mode into Gmail, Slack, and Canva — three tools widely used by small businesses for daily operations. Previously, voice mode was available only inside the standalone Claude app.

What it means for your business

If your team already works in Gmail, Slack, or Canva, you may soon be able to issue voice commands directly inside those apps rather than switching to a separate tool and typing out prompts. The move to Opus and Sonnet means the voice assistant can handle multi-step or nuanced requests, not just simple lookups. For a business owner juggling email, team communication, and design work across those platforms, eliminating context-switching has real time value. The integration is in preview rollout, so it is worth testing once it reaches your account to see whether voice input genuinely fits your workflow or is slower than typing for the tasks you do most.
