Claude's Share Feature May Have Exposed Conversations to Google Search

The short answer

Anthropic's Claude has a built-in feature for sharing conversations publicly — and some of those shared links appear to have been indexed by Google, making their contents searchable. If you or anyone on your team has used Claude's share or Artifacts link feature, those conversations may now be findable on Google by anyone who searches the right terms.

What happened

Claude's "share chat" feature lets users generate a link that allows anyone with the URL to view a conversation or project. According to TechCrunch, shared chats and Artifacts created through that feature may have ended up indexed by Google — meaning the contents of those shared conversations could potentially be found through a standard web search.

The exposure appears to stem from how the shareable links were treated: as publicly accessible URLs that web crawlers could discover and index. The feature is opt-in, so only conversations where a user actively chose to generate a share link would be affected. Anthropic has not publicly detailed the full scope of which conversations or Artifacts may have been indexed.

What it means for your business

If you or anyone on your team has used Claude's share or Artifacts link feature, those conversations may now be findable on Google by anyone who searches the right terms. Review whether any links you generated contained client names, pricing details, internal strategy, contract language, or other sensitive material. Until Anthropic clarifies the scope of indexing, treat any "share" link as fully public rather than semi-private. Going forward, avoid using Claude's share feature for any conversation that includes confidential business information. Check Claude's interface for options to revoke or disable previously generated links.
