Straight answers on AI for owner-led businesses.

What is Strickland AI?
Strickland AI is a Houston, Texas company that helps owner-led businesses fix the operational problems that slow growth: organizing knowledge, improving workflows, and connecting the systems they already use. It adds AI only where it measurably pays for itself. It is the AI practice of Strickland Technology and is led by James Strickland, who has more than thirty years in technology.
Who does Strickland AI work with?
Owner-led companies that have outgrown the way they run, usually with a team, customers and software already in place, where much of the work still runs through the owner. Typical signs are slow quotes, staff asking the owner for answers, customer history scattered across inboxes and spreadsheets, and growth that brings more admin instead of more margin.
What does it mean to outgrow the way you run your business?
It means the methods that worked when the company was small, such as the owner approving everything or knowing every answer, now slow it down. Work waits on one person, information lives in many places, and each new customer adds disproportionate administrative effort. The fix usually starts with the process, not the software.
Should my business use AI right now?
Often not yet, and that is a legitimate answer. AI pays off when the process underneath it is clear and repeated often enough to matter. If work is inconsistent or owner-dependent, fix that first. A readiness check or a short conversation can show which situation you are in.
What should be fixed before adding AI?
The handoffs and decisions that currently live in one person’s head: who owns each step, where information is stored, how follow-up happens, and which questions get asked repeatedly. Write those down, give them one owner and one system of record, and AI has something reliable to work from.
Where does AI genuinely help in a business like mine?
AI is useful for drafting from material you have approved, summarizing and searching customer history once it lives in one place, answering routine questions from approved knowledge, and timing reminders. It is a poor substitute for pricing judgment, relationships, or decisions your business has not yet defined.
Will AI replace my employees?
That is not the aim here. The goal is to take repetitive coordination off your team so they can spend time on work that needs a person. Nothing should change who does what without a reason you can see and agree with.
How much does working with Strickland AI cost?
Cost depends on the scope of the work, so it is explained after a short conversation and before any work begins. If AI is the wrong spend for your situation, you will be told that plainly, even when it means you buy nothing.
Do I have to replace the software I already use?
No. The approach starts with the systems you already pay for and keeps your systems of record where they are. Changes are explained before you commit, including exactly what any new tool would be able to see.
What happens in a first meeting with James?
It is about twenty minutes, over coffee or on a call. You bring one task that keeps getting stuck and the tools you use for it. You map where it stalls and leave with a straight answer on what to fix first and whether it is worth doing at all. There is no pitch.
Where is Strickland AI based and who is behind it?
Strickland AI is based in Houston, Texas. It is led by James Strickland, who has worked in technology for more than thirty years. Strickland Technology, the company behind it, has served Houston businesses since 2003.
